2. Abandoned Places - Hashima Island, Japan

I have always been fascinated with abandoned places.  I enjoy the art of photography and the history of these type of places.  I have not visited many of these places but I do want to.  I really want to visit Hashima Island in Japan.  It is about 9 miles from the mainland.  The island was home to an undersea coal mining operation from 1887 to 1974. During WWII most inhabitants were forced laborers from Korea or China as Prisoners of War.  The island peaked at 5,259 inhabitants in 1959 and has been abandoned since 1974 when the mine closed.  The island has been completely neglected and left to rot since.  Up until very recently it was registered as a historic place and was partially opened to the public as a museum and for tours.

You can learn more on its wiki page: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hashima_Island

Also you can use Google Images or Google Maps Street View to virtually tour it.

1. Selfie With A Monkey

This was taken at the Seattle Zoo during the Summer of 2015. My parents moved from St. Louis to Seattle during February 2015.
